Ovenden Papers, a River Way firm formed in 1943, is in administration. Plus 23 new Harlow companies registered from 11 to 24 September, and three other notices.

One of Harlow’s oldest companies has gone into administration. Ovenden Papers Limited, based at Swordfish House on River Way, has had joint administrators appointed. Meanwhile 23 new companies registered a Harlow address with Companies House between 11 and 24 September.

This is our fortnightly look at who is starting up and who is closing down. It uses the official registers only. Company names and the nature of business are as the companies themselves registered them.

Ovenden Papers goes into administration

The London Gazette notice, published on 25 September, records that joint administrators were appointed on 18 September 2026 in the High Court in Birmingham. They are from Alvarez and Marsal Europe LLP. (The Gazette, notice 5218808)

Companies House shows the company was incorporated on 29 November 1943, as Everard, Ovenden and Co. Limited. It took its current name in 1987. Its registered business is the wholesale of “other intermediate products”. (Companies House, Ovenden Papers Limited)

Administration is not the same as closure. Administrators run a company while they try to rescue it, sell it or its business, or get a better result for creditors than winding it up would. The notice does not say how many people work there or whether trading continues. Creditors can contact the administrators through the details in the notice.

Three other notices

  • Shieldwise Services Limited, registered at the Kao Hockham Building on Edinburgh Way, faces a winding-up petition from HM Revenue and Customs, presented on 13 August. It will be heard at the High Court in London on 7 October. A petition is a claim, not a finding. (The Gazette, notice 5216443) Updated 7 October: the company’s members resolved on 23 September to wind it up voluntarily. Two joint liquidators from NTF Corporate Solutions in Wilmslow were appointed the same day, in a creditors’ voluntary liquidation. Its registered business is security systems services. (The Gazette, notices 5222002 and 5222003)
  • NJW Cleaning Services Ltd, which trades as Bright and Beautiful Bishops Stortford from the Harlow Enterprise Hub on Edinburgh Way, is seeking a creditors’ decision on appointing a liquidator. Bishop’s Stortford is about seven miles north of Harlow. (The Gazette, notice 5211227)
  • Heal Consultancy Ltd, a medical practice company with a Harlow address, is being wound up by its members. Its directors have declared it solvent, and the notice expects all creditors to be paid in full. This is a planned closure, not a failure. (The Gazette, notice 5217609)

Two more notices matched “Harlow” this fortnight but are not Harlow businesses. Harlow Barrington Builders Limited trades from Erith in south east London, and Activ8 Fun (Peterborough) Limited trades from a Peterborough shopping centre, with only its registered office in Harlow.

New companies, 11 to 24 September

Many new companies use an accountant’s or a business centre’s address as their registered office. So a Harlow address shows where the paperwork goes, not always where the business trades. For companies registered at a home, we give only the neighbourhood.
